Megan Arthur (27) from Alloa has just completed a HND Beauty Therapy and she reckons it’s a great course which will help students work out which area of the industry is best for them.
She said: “I chose Forth Valley College as it was local to me and I had known other people who had studied there before and had heard good things about the place.
“All the lecturers and staff have been amazing from the start all the way through to year two of the HND. They have been an amazing support whether it is College related or not. They make lessons fun and are happy to help at any time, whether it is during class or through Teams calls at home. So a big ‘Shout Out’ to Wendy, Morag, Kathryn, Lisa, Tracey and Elaine for getting us through these past three years!
“Whilst it has been stressful at times with practical assessments and assignments, I now feel like I have a deep knowledge of all things Beauty Therapy, and I can confidently create bespoke treatments for each individual client and tailor it to their needs. So completing the course really has benefitted me.
“Working in a commercial working salon each week – at the Falkirk Campus has helped me work towards my next steps in my career, as it has given me experience and confidence of dealing with clients first hand. I have also been carrying out treatments on them, which has helped me to get a taster of what it will be like when I am working for myself.
“I would recommend the College and the course as it's a great qualification that will help you figure out what part of the beauty industry you’re most interested in. There is a wide range of treatments and services that are taught, and whether you're more holistic or aesthetic, there's something for everyone.
“The best bit for me has been making friends for life and practicing treatments on each other. I am going to miss getting free massages all the time.
“Forth Valley College has a great vibe. The support is great throughout the entire College, and they offer a lot of services to help students in and out of College. The Starbucks café is one of the best additions FVC has had.
“The thing I loved most about my experience was having a laugh every day with my classmates and lecturers! It has been a fun three years and I am sad to be leaving, but excited for what is to come.”
