After Lynne Frail (46) from Falkirk completed her HNC Working with Communities at Forth Valley College, it helped her land a job at the Forth Valley Sensory Centre as a Fundraiser Co-ordinator and a place at university.
She told us that it was a chance conversation with a member of the College staff that led her to study at FVC. Lynne, said: “I had wanted to pursue something different for a few years previous yet lacked in self-confidence and self-believe. This FVC member of staff encouraged me to apply for the course. It has been the best advice I’ve ever been given.
“The facilities were good although I am looking forward to seeing the new development. The lecturers were excellent, I always looked forward to Wednesdays and Thursdays. I definitely grew in confidence and started to believe I could achieve something for myself which led me to study Community Education at the University of the West of Scotland. I met a great bunch of people and many continue to be my close friends.
“I honestly believe I wouldn’t be starting my third year at uni or have my job at the Sensory Centre, if it weren’t for me attending Forth Valley College. The connections and relationships I’ve made within the College and community have been wonderful and they continue to grow.
“Working with Communities is an excellent course and it introduced me to a wider knowledge and understanding of people and communities. The course at Forth Valley College is an all-rounder course and one that I would truly recommend.
“The best bit for me was growing my self-belief, completing the course and progressing to university and finally meeting new friends."
