Kirsten Henderson (21) from Carluke began studying for a BA Art and Design at Forth Valley College in August 2024, but she is already thriving.

She was delighted recently to be asked to show off some of her artwork at the ‘Gallery at the Gallery’ exhibition at the FVC Gallery Training Restaurant at the Stirling Campus.

Kirsten, said: “I chose to study at Forth Valley College as they offered the degree course I wanted. This was the next step in my creative journey after completing my HND Art and Design.

“The facilities at the college are excellent. They include print making studio, painting studios, photography studio and many more. There is a place for all artists to develop and enhance their skills and the lecturers’ support has been great. They have supported my ideas and offer great advice. They want all their students to succeed.

“This is my first year studying at Forth Valley College, however, my experience so far as been excellent. Different workshops have been provided to enhance my knowledge and skills. It has so far given me the confidence so that I can thrive in my practice.

“Forth Valley College will provide me with the qualification, skills and knowledge that will allow me to continue with my studies to complete my honours degree and to promote and sell my work to a wider audience.

“I would recommend the college to anyone. It offers a fantastic range of facilities that enables you to explore different ways to enhance your creative abilities and skills. It caters for everyone, from beginner to advanced. The best bit for me so far is being creative and having the ability to use my own creative process in projects and not be tied to a specific medium.

“I would recommend college to everyone. College is the step before going to university. Not everyone is ready for university, college provides you with support and guidance so that you are ready for the next step. College has helped me to prepare for my next steps, I have gained valuable skills and knowledge.

“I have only been at Forth Valley College for a few months, but my experience so far has been great. It has given me the confidence to thrive in my practice.”
