Beauty Therapy Lecturer Kathryn Baird has been at Forth Valley College since 2006.
She, said: "After training as an accounts/wages clerk at the age of 23, I trained privately with Backscratchers and NSI as a nail technician and worked in this industry for a number of years on a self-employed basis. During this time I came back to college to complete a level 2/3 Beauty Therapy course and various HND units in related areas.
"Shortly after completing this qualification I started working on a part-time basis as a technician for Hair and Beauty with Forth Valley College, whilst still running my beauty rooms in a local salon. I was then offered teaching hours and for a few years juggled technician/teaching and salon work until, I was successful in gaining a full-time lecturing post within the department.
"I have also trained in a variety of specialist skills such as hot stones massage/tanning/ear piercing/eyelash extensions/and a variety of training in facial product houses, most recently Eve Taylor – the College supplier. I recently completed a PDA in teaching further education.
"People should use our salons because we aim to offer an equivalent high street service at a discounted price and we are friendly, open and accommodating. By using our salons to receive your hair and beauty treatments, clients become an important cog in the wheel of our students' successes, giving them a true reflection of salon work and contributing to our realistic working environment."

She, said: "I really enjoy going to gigs in my non-working time and recently completed a 12 mile walk organised by FVC on behalf of our local food banks."
