James Kerr (25) from Falkirk, completed a HND Technical Support in 2011 and now works in Forth Valley College’s Stirling Campus as a Senior IT Analyst.
It is his job to maintain and update the computer systems in the Stirling Campus. James chose to study at FVC due to the ease of traveling to the College and the course timetable worked nicely with his work schedule.
James, said: “The facilities provided were good. The dedicated network lab was extremely helpful allowing us to experiment with different solutions for our projects. The lecturers were great, as they let us forge ahead with our ideas while always being there if we needed assistance.
“My time at the College benefited me as it allowed me to make contacts who approached me when a temporary job within the College became available. Therefore it helped me move onto the next step in my career by giving me a temporary job within their IT Department. This grew into a full-time position and is where I am now.
“Yes I would recommend the College to other people. If you are not quite sure what you want to specialise in, FVC provides you with a chance to experience many things, before making your choice.
“The best bit for me was using the netlab to create a working network prototype for my graded unit, based on the premise of running a gaming LAN. Practice games were included in testing.”
Summing up his Forth Valley College experience, James, said: “Good Life Choice!”
