Cian McLaughlin (20) from Menstrie believes that studying for a Pathways to Fitness, Health and Exercise (Level 6) has been a great introduction back into education, since leaving school.
He said: “I first chose Forth Valley College as I thought it was a suitable and respectable place to resume my studies since leaving high school. Everyone was very welcoming and supportive, which is much more than what I expected, and the facilities for my course are great. All the equipment available is well maintained and great for my course.
“I believe the course and the College have benefited me greatly as it was my first experience of education, since leaving high school. Being treated as equal to everyone and receiving the overwhelming support of staff, has greatly helped me with a few issues I have had over the years.
“The College gave me a great introduction into the sporting and fitness industry and has given me great skills and qualifications that will help me if I ever choose to go into a sporting career.
“I would recommend the Course and the College as it is an excellent introduction back into education if you have been out of it for an extended period. The people I have met have all been great and the support from the lecturers is amazing, as you are treated like an adult and actually given the time of day if you need help.
“The best bit for me has been the improvement in my confidence. The belief in my own ability has significantly improved in regards to the social aspect and also within a classroom environment.
“The thing I most loved about my College experience was how I got treated with respect and given support without question, whether that be with my studies, home life or mental health.”
