HNC Electrical Engineering - Modern Apprenticeship

Why FVC:

Forth Valley College were looking for modern apprentices. After a few interviews and assessments I managed to secure an Electrical and Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship with National Express - who run the East Coast main railway line . This meant I would have to go to FVC Falkirk Campus one day a week to study for an HNC in Electrical Engineering and that is why I am here.

Favourite Moment:

Getting my results back from my exams and finding out I had done really well. I was joint top in the year with 98%. I'm very proud of that!

Chosen Career:

I am doing what I want to do now and I am delighted that I am working maintaining the trains. I might even go on now and do a degree as it would be great for my career to have something like that behind me.

Expected:

A few of the older apprentices and a few of my friends from outside of work had been to FVC and I kind of knew what to expect, but most of the time everything was very positive about the college.

Unexpected:

I have been used to computers, but I must say I did not expect the Electrical Engineering department to have so much computer technology. They had a computer in nearly every class and that has helped with my work.

AOQ:

I am really pleased with the way things have turned out, I have the ideal apprenticeship and have attained the perfect qualification that I needed at FVC. The college has been the perfect stepping stone as I progress in my career and I would just like to thank all the lecturing staff for helping me through the course.
