FAQ Graduation
Students who are potentially eligible to graduate will be contacted by the Marketing Team at the end of August and asked to reply to confirm/decline their attendance to the appropriate Graduation Ceremony.
Please ensure that if your address, contact number or email address has changed since your enrolment to the college that you have passed the changes on to Student Records on 01324 403006 before the end of July.
When will I receive the Invitation to Graduation?
You will receive your letter about Graduation w/c 29 August this will contain instructions on how to register to attend the event with a time/place to collect your graduation pack.
How do I register to graduate?
When you receive your letter of invite to graduation there will be instructions in this for you to follow to complete the enrolment process online - if you have any problems with this system please email your details to graduation@forthvalley.ac.uk
What happens if I forget to register?
It is important that all graduands respond in good time. If you forget to respond to the invitation, please still come and collect your graduation pack at one of the time slots as detailed on your letter. If you do not follow this procedure then it may be too late to arrange your ceremony. If you have missed the deadline, please contact the Marketing Team urgently on 01324 403117 or email graduation@forthvalley.ac.uk
Graduation Packs
Your Graduation Pack will be available for collection at the campus reception areas at the following times:
Falkirk Campus:
- Tuesday 13 September 9.30am - 12.30pm & 1.30pm - 4.30pm
- Wednesday 14 September & Thursday 15 September 3pm - 5pm
Stirling Campus:
- Wednesday 14 September 10am - 1pm
New Alloa Campus:
Thursday 15 September 10am - 1pm
If you are unable to collect your pack in person a family member may on your behalf if they bring your letter of invitation to graduate with them. If this is not possible then please email graduation@forthvalley.ac.uk or call after 4pm to arrange another collection time.
Can I get additional tickets?
If you are looking for extra guest tickets for your graduation ceremony, please highlight this to the marketing team when you are collecting your graduation packs. Once we have the final numbers attending each event we will let you know if you have been successful in securing extra tickets.
Photography
The official photographers for the ceremony are Ede & Ravenscroft you will find them inside the venue in a dedicated area. For further information on Ede & Ravenscroft click here.
Hiring a Gown
Your graduation gown should be ordered from Ede & Ravenscroft prior to your Graduation Ceremony through the website - www.gownhire.co.uk
Alternatively, you can order by phone by calling 01223 861854 between 9.00 and 5.00pm. You must pay by debit or credit card. (Calls may be recorded for staff training purposes).
If you do not have a credit or debit card please call the above number for details on how to order your gown by post.
Please note: Graduation gowns are collected from the ceremony venue and not the College.
When ordering please supply
- Chest and height measurements
- Course title
- And your credit/debit card details
Bring your order confirmation with you on the day of your ceremony, so that your order can be processed quickly. If you have ordered online, remember to print out a copy of your order confirmation.
Your gown will be available to collect at the ceremony venue:
- Falkirk Afternoon - from 12pm
- Falkirk Evening - from 5pm
- Stirling Evening - from 6pm
The Ceremony
Where is the ceremony?
- Falkirk Ceremonies are held at Falkirk Town Hall
- Stirling Ceremony is held at Stirling Castle
* Please note your letter of invitation will advise you as to which ceremony you are attending.
What time does the ceremony start?
- Falkirk Afternoon ceremony – 2:30pm -Students to be registered by 1:45pm Guests to be seated by 2pm
- Falkirk Evening ceremony – 7:30pm – Students to be registered by 6:45pm Guests to be seated by 7pm
- Stirling ceremony – 8:00pm – Students to be registered by 7:15pm Guests to be seated by 7:30pm
Is there Parking?
There is limited parking at each venue. Please note that during the day of the Falkirk ceremony there is NO Parking facilities at the Town Hall. There is public parking in town centre car parks which are within walking distance of the Venue.
How do we get there?
The venues are both local to bus routes and train stations there is also limited parking available for anyone who wishes to drive.
When should I arrive at the Graduation Venue?
You should arrive at least 45 minutes before the event, to allow you to collect your gown and register.
Please note
Any student with outstanding debt owed to the College after (24 June) will NOT be permitted to Graduate. This includes tuition fees, telephone charges and overdue library books. You can ask Student Finance to check and see if you have any debt.
