Kieran Monaghan (20) from Denny and Debbie Taylor (22) from Maddison were chosen from a class of 18 to work on projects during the holidays both at the Falkirk campus and at home.
Both were paid basic expenses during the eight week period and, once trained on the relevant software, were given the task of working on the Moodle learning environment – which is valuable for staff and students – and also ePortfolio materials.
Jasmin Hodge, FVC Organisational Learning Co-ordinator, said: “The standard of work delivered by Debbie and Kieran was great and I am sure the experience they had working for us will help them once they complete their course next year.
“The real office environment meant they had to work to tight project timelines and deadlines and they did very well. The work they produced is now up and running on Moodle and being used by students and staff.
“I will certainly be looking to get some students in next year to work on similar projects as it certainly helped ease the busy work schedule within my team.”
Debbie said:
“I would definitely recommend this to any students next year. I was trained up on Adobe and that will be very useful and the fact we could work from home at times was also great.”
Kieran added: “It certainly was a worthwhile exercise for me and working to deadlines will prepare me for what it will be like when I leave college and find a job.”
