A total of 898 learners were eligible to graduate at the events which were held at Falkirk Town Hall.
Families, friends and college staff gathered to celebrate the achievements of learners over the past year.
At the afternoon ceremony, Dr Gill Stewart Director of Qualifications Development at the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) addressed the audience as guest speaker. Later in the day at the evening event the guest speaker was Tom Moore Area Operations Manager Forties Pipeline System BP Grangemouth.
Special awards were also presented at the ceremonies, with five students from the Falkirk area receiving prizes.
They were: Scott Sinclair (Most Promising Student in Leisure Industries); Paul Keenan (Most Promising Student in Business); Mannie Lo (Most Promising Student in Applied Science and Computing); and Chris Copeland and Francis McKenzie (Joint Winners of Most Promising Student in Creative Industries).
Scott Sinclair also scooped the coveted 'Student of the Year' award. He said:
“I am absolutely gobsmacked and am in complete shock. I am very proud. I have come a long way from the Fresh Start course I began at college to starting an Honours degree at Queen Margaret University! Forth Valley College has definitely played a big part in my journey.”
HND Computing Technical Support graduate Joanne Carr (25) was the recipient of the first Ivan Hanley award. This award is dedicated to an inspirational and popular FVC lecturer – and Curriculum Quality Leader (CQL) in the Department of Applied Science and Computing – who sadly passed away at the end of 2010
The award - which was presented at the evening ceremony – is awarded to learners who strive for the very best through their studies and recognises the distance they have travelled and the achievements they have made in doing so.
Joanne said: “I did not have a clue I had won an award. It is amazing and puts everything into perspective. Over the last three years I have put so much work in, so I am pretty chuffed with myself.
“Ivan was actually a lecturer of mine during my first year and he made us all feel at ease with everything on the course, so it is a real honour to win this award.”
FVC Principal Linda McKay said:
"All this year’s graduates have worked very hard throughout the course of their studies and have been a credit to themselves and to the College. I would like to wish them all the best in their future careers and am confident they will make a success of whatever they choose to do.”
