Kathleen Underhill (27) from Grangemouth, - who is studying for an HNC Early Education and Childcare – has been nominated in the Course Representative of the Year category at the National Union of Students (NUS) Scotland Awards which will be held at the Menzies Hotel, Irvine on Saturday 5 March.
Kathleen, a former recruitment and administration clerk with the Territorial Army, said: “I feel very nervous about being nominated and it has been totally unexpected. But it’s a great honour to be recognised for the work that I do and I really appreciate that. I would also like to thank Student Liaison Officer Suzanne Crawford for nominating me and for all her great help and guidance throughout my time here.
“It is very satisfying and rewarding for me to help my classmates with any issues that they may have. It’s also been really good fun being the class rep last year and now a senior class rep this term. You get to be involved a lot more in what is happening across the college.”
Suzanne Crawford FVC Student Liaison Officer, said: “Kathleen has worked above and beyond the call of duty in her role as class rep to ensure her class is well represented and that the issues her class have faced are swiftly overcome to a favourable conclusion.
“Personally, I think Kathleen’s general attitude to her role as Class Representative is commendable and she deserves recognition for taking on the responsibility with the same energy as if she was carrying out her work, and the benefits to her class are tangible.”
