Learners Flock to Open Evening

Potential students – both young and old – made their way to Forth Valley College’s Open Evening last week to find out about the wide range of courses on offer.

Nearly 500 people from across the Forth Valley area – made their way to the main hall at the college’s Falkirk Campus last Wednesday  from 4pm-8pm, where lecturers from all eight departments were on hand to outline options and give advice.

Information on full-time, part-time, community learning, evening classes, Modern Apprenticeships and options to study by flexible learning was also available on the day.  In addition visitors could also find valuable details on the sources of student finance – including Individual Learning Accounts (ILA) -  which can be accessed by school leavers, mature students and employed people seeking to undertake evening classes.

Associate Principal Curriculum, Quality and Learning Services, Gail Fertacz said: “The Open Evening has proved once again to be a great success.

“Skills Development Scotland - Careers had a stand to offer advice on job paths, the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) were recruiting for Modern Apprentices and there were many more similar stands offering advice.

“The advice stands were all busy throughout the evening and the feedback we have already received has been really positive. It’s great that local people are aware of what we can offer and shows that Forth Valley College is at the forefront of people’s minds when they consider further education in this area.”
