Construction students at Forth Valley College have certainly been building confidence for their future careers if a recent awards event is anything to go by.The Department of Construction’s annual awards were held at the Falkirk Campus Main Hall, and were well attended by students, their parents, FVC staff, local employers and sponsors.
A total of 35 awards were handed out on the night by former student Colin Flaws, now a Lifecycle Manager with FES FM Limited, whose success since leaving college is sure to have inspired many on the night.
Ian Morrison, Head of Construction said: “At these awards we celebrate achievements across a wide range of construction disciplines from introductory schools programmes to higher national diplomas and modern apprenticeships. In addition, we have students receiving awards in recognition of achievement on short college programmes, external competitions and work experience.
“For the department this has been another exceptionally busy year with many examples of student and staff success. Nights like these make all of the staff very proud. Not only is it an opportunity to celebrate the work of our students, but the students’ success is also testimony to the continued hard work of our staff within the Construction Department who have supported them throughout their current, and possibly, future studies at the college.
“Finally, our award winners have been chosen by teaching staff within the Department of Construction for their excellent progress, teamwork, application to learning and personal development.
“All of our award winners should celebrate and be proud of their individual achievements and continue to develop knowledge and skills relevant to their chosen field of study in order to be best placed to respond to an ever changing economic and working environment. Congratulations go to everyone and best wishes to them in the future.”
