Part-time Courses at FVC

A new range of part-time daytime leisure courses at Forth Valley College, are set to help people improve their confidence with arts and crafts, floristry and in the gym this spring.

A total of five courses are available across FVC’s three campuses and all are reasonably priced for one two hour class a week for six weeks, with places still available on each. A two day summer life drawing and painting workshop is also available at the end of July.

These short day-time courses are designed to fit into the public’s busy schedule - whether they are looking to indulge in an existing passion or interest, develop a new skill or explore a new hobby. They may well be suitable for those who are on compressed hours, work on a hybrid model or are retired.

In the Falkirk Campus an Introduction to Floristry is set to start on Friday 19 April from 11am to 1pm until Friday 24 May. The course will cover table posies, front facing arrangement, line arrangement, candle arrangement and Christmas wreath making.

Also at Falkirk, starting on Friday 19 April from 3pm-4.30pm will be a ‘Building Gym Confidence Workshop’ – a workshop devised for complete first-timers to a gym. The course will cover how to use the gym equipment and machines properly, fitness programme design, warm ups and cool downs, introduction to basic weights exercises as well as spin and body circuit experience.

At the Alloa Campus an Art and Craft Workshop is set to start on Friday 19 April from 1pm to 3pm, running one day a week until Friday 24 May, and those registering for a place can expect to see their drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, textiles and 3D modelling skills improve drastically over the six week run of the course.

The Stirling Campus will offer two new part-time leisure courses: Drawing and Painting for the Terrified (Friday 26 – Friday 31 May from 12noon-2pm) – which will provide an introduction to, or refreshment of, basic drawing and painting techniques using a variety of media, including, pencil, charcoal, pastel, acrylic and watercolour; and an Introduction to Floristry (Friday 19 April –Friday 24 May from 11am-1pm) covering the same skills as the one in Falkirk.

A Life Drawing and Painting Summer Workshop will also be taking place at the Stirling Campus from Monday 29 July - Tuesday 30 July from 9am-4pm each day, led by tutor Fiona Van Baardwick.
