This course is designed to provide a theoretical and practical background in the field of Fitness, Health and Exercise. The course, which has recently been updated to meet the needs of the Fitness Industry, will provide a foundation for future employment in the area of Fitness, Health and Exercise within the community, private and corporate spheres. This course will also develop the applied competencies of Fitness, Health and Exercise within areas such as Physiology, Exercise Principles, and Fitness Instruction. Learners will be required to purchase personal equipment eg. clothing and books.
Full-time 2 years (or exit after 1 year with HNC Fitness, Health & Exercise - SCQF level 7) Part-time routes may be discussed at interview

Year 2
Exercise Prescription
Work Placement
Teaching Fitness Sessions
Employment in the area of General Exercise Assessment and Provision
Personal Training (both Private and Public Sector)
Gym Instructor
Year 2 or 3 of a relevant degree course
Mandatory:
Successful practical, verbal and written interview
Positive reference from previous educational establishment or employer
Clear Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check required. The candidate must submit an application to join the PVG scheme. It is the responsiblity of the applicant to cover the cost of this
Plus one of the following:
2 Highers at Level C or above (including English or Communication 4/Literature 1) and 3 Standard Grades at Level 3 or above (including Maths ot Intermediate 2 Maths)
Successful completion of NQ Sport and Fitness (SCQF Level 6)
Successful completion of NQ Adventure Tourism (SCQF Level 6)
